Student Spotlight - Dominic Esprit
"It was a perfect opportunity to talk to and learn from someone that worked on every film that inspired me to push my animation capabilities."
Student Spotlight features Dominic Esprit, a Gameplay animator from Horsham, England, United Kingdom, who is currently working on Creative Assembly’s brand new FPS IP.
Dominic's passion and commitment to his animation career are evident in his education and the pieces of training he attended. He studied animation at the College of Haringey, Enfield, North East London, and the University of East London. He never stops learning and developing his skills by taking workshops at iAnimate to push his skills and capabilities. It resulted in continuous and various animation jobs with different companies, which showcased what he learned through the years.
Student Animation Journey
Daniel took the following Feature Student Workshop here at iAnimate:
- Feature Workshop 4 with Tal Shwarzman (Pixar Animation)
Dominic’s way of working on his processes is exceptional. He showed a professional way of doing his animation and iAnimate assignments by knowing the characters first. The more he knew about the characters in the scene, the more nuances and emotion he could eject into the performance. Having their backstory and understanding how the scene would develop the overall story was a big help.
One of the things he learned in iAnimate was to understand what is important. The performance is about telling a story, and you don't want to distract the viewer with unnecessary actions and focus more on what they are thinking and feeling.
